Portia Cameron

Chief of Staff

Portia Cameron is the Chief of Staff at Legends Charter School, where she leads strategic operations and cross-departmental coordination to ensure the CEO’s vision is executed with precision and impact. She brings over a decade of experience in student affairs, operations, and equity-focused education leadership. 

Portia earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Elizabeth City State University, and pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Her commitment to service, leadership, and community empowerment has been a consistent thread throughout her career.

At Legends, Portia previously served as Executive Director of Operations and Director of Student Affairs, where she led initiatives in academic support, behavioral intervention, professional development, and family engagement. Her work has helped shape the school’s culture of excellence and inclusion. 

Before joining Legends, Portia held leadership roles at BASIS DC Public Charter School, including Head of Operations and Director of Student Affairs, where she oversaw faculty teams, developed enrichment programs, and implemented student support systems that improved academic performance and school culture.
