K–3 Spork Butterfly Resource Teacher
Dionna Towell is a passionate educator with over 12 years of experience in early childhood and elementary education. At Legends Charter School, she serves as the K–3 Spork Butterfly Resource Teacher, where she supports teachers with math instruction, models engaging lessons, and creates hands-on learning experiences that help young scholars feel confident and curious.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University and her Master’s in Human Services from The University of Arizona Global Campus. Her strong academic background and classroom experience allow her to build inclusive, meaningful learning environments where students thrive.
Before joining Legends, Dionna taught in Prince George’s County Public Schools and at THEMBA Creative Learning Center. There, she led curriculum development, mentored teacher assistants, and designed integrated lessons aligned with national standards.
While teaching kindergarten at Legends, Dionna was honored with the Mary Church Terrell Award, a recognition of her commitment to student success. Since day one, she’s been a cornerstone of the Blue Hallway, known for bringing joy, structure, and excellence to everything she does.
Dionna is admired for her creativity, collaborative spirit, and deep belief in the brilliance of young learners. Her leadership continues to shape a culture of excellence at Legends, where both students and teachers feel supported and inspired.
Outside of school, Dionna enjoys crafting and using her imagination to spread joy and connection — a reflection of the same energy she brings to her work every day.
