Sherman Ellegood 

Sherman Ellegood Jr. is a visionary educator, entrepreneur, and instructional leader with over 15 years of experience in public education, youth development, and academic support services. He currently serves as the Director of Mathematics at Legends Charter School, where he leads with precision, purpose, and a deep belief in the brilliance of every scholar. 

 

A proud graduate of Morgan State University, Sherman earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting before pivoting toward education, a move inspired by his desire to create equitable learning experiences for all students. His early leadership roles in student government, residence life, and the university marching band laid the foundation for a career rooted in service, systems thinking, and community engagement. 

 

Sherman holds two Master of Education degrees from the American College of Education—one in Educational Leadership and Administration, and another in Curriculum and Instruction. He is pursuing his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), focusing on transformative leadership and school improvement. He also completed a certificate in Instructional Rounds from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, further deepening his expertise in collaborative learning and instructional design. 

 

Sherman has served as Assistant Principal, Principal Intern, and Crisis Intervention Counselor throughout his career across Prince George’s County and Montgomery County Public Schools. He founded Simon Studies Educational Services, a tutoring and academic coaching company, and co-founded the E3Y Project, a youth empowerment initiative focused on education, equity, and excellence. 

 

At Legends, Sherman brings this wealth of experience to the math department, driving instructional rigor, culturally responsive pedagogy, and data-informed decision-making. His leadership is marked by calm resolve, strategic vision, and a commitment to building systems supporting student achievement and staff growth. 

 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sherman is a proud father of beautiful daughters, whose joy and brilliance fuel his dedication to creating learning environments that affirm, challenge, and uplift.
