5th Annual Recap
The night that set the stage for our 6th. One evening, five legacy awards, and a community that showed up.

About Legends Charter School
Founded June 2019
Legends Charter School was founded on the belief that all students can learn and deserve the opportunity to receive a high-quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background. It is our belief that a student's zip code should not determine a student's access to education. At Legends, we believe in a holistic approach to education and work to provide any and all resources that facilitate student success in the classroom and beyond.

A LEGACY
OF
LIBERATION
A Celebration to Remember
This year, we proudly celebrated the 6th Charter Day of Legends Charter School, honoring our remarkable journey and the impact we've made on more than 900 scholars in Prince George's County. Founded by visionary leaders committed to educational innovation and equity, Legends Charter School reflects the enduring spirit of Brown v. Board of Education, championing opportunity and educational freedom for all students.
The evening featured an award show style program honoring the dedication, innovation, and performance of our exceptional teachers. Guests heard from distinguished speakers exploring the school's impact locally and beyond, and a silent auction benefited student-centered programs and initiatives. The event also recognized the invaluable contributions of AmeriCorps Legends Fellows.
Our thanks go to the funders, partners, and supporters who stood with us in advancing this mission. Their support empowered our students, strengthened academic outcomes, and helped remove barriers to education. Together we honored our founders' legacy and shaped a brighter future for Prince George's County and beyond — and we are already looking ahead to the 7th Annual celebration in 2027.

A LEGACY
OF LIBERATION
Purpose
The 6th Annual celebration evolved into a more dynamic and engaging format — an awards-style program highlighting and honoring the outstanding achievements of our students, staff, and community.
Sponsors are active partners in our story. They are named partners who present awards live on stage, honoring living educators connected to historic legacy leaders. This is how we move from transactional giving to shared stewardship of the future.
Every dollar raised through those partnerships goes directly to:
- Teacher excellence and retention
- Student leadership and achievement
- A thriving, values-aligned school culture
Our Philosophy: From Donations to Partnership
Charter Day is designed as an opportunity to form purposeful partnerships.
Our focus is on building meaningful collaborations, not simply requesting donations.
We invite organizations and individuals to join us as active partners supporting our mission.
Partnership means:
- Investing in people, not just programs
- Publicly aligning with a mission rooted in educational justice
- Being visibly connected to excellence, impact, and legacy
Sponsors are active partners in our story. They are named partners in our story who present the award live on stage.
Each partnership:
- Honors a living educator or student
- Is connected to a historic legacy leader
- Is recognized publicly and meaningfully at the Awards Celebration
This is how we move from transactional giving to shared stewardship of the future.
